BARAKA DA SALLAH TO MY MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS

    AMEJE AJEJE

    ehodaadole@gmail.com
I congratulate all Muslim faithfuls from my constituency and the state at large on the occasion of this year's Eid el Kabir celebrations.

Let us see this Sallah celebration as a moment of reflections and prayers for peace within the constituency especially in Agatu where inter communal crisis is tearing our people apart.
There's no alternative to peaceful coexistence as a major bedrock of every development and without peace no meaningful progress can be achieved by the people.
We should pray for the complete resolution of the Egba, Ologba, Agbube, Okokolo and other communal crisis which the state government is seriously involved in bringing to an end.

My appreciation goes to the state Governor, Samuel Ortom for giving me listening ears any time I call on him concerning the security challenges of our people despite our political party differences.
The security of our people must be taken seriously by all relevant stakeholders as it comes first and above all.

Once again, I thank the good people of Apa and Agatu for your high level of religious tolerance exhibited since the history of our dear constituency, it is my prayer that nothing comes in-between the two major religions in the constituency.
We must crave for more harmonious relationships between Christians and Muslims in our society.

I wish all Apa and Agatu Muslim faithfuls a wonderful Eid el Kabir celebration.
    Barka da Sallah!

    Godday Odagboyi Samuel

Benue massacre: Doyin Okupe provides shocking revelations

A former aide to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, has spoken concerning the incessant attacks and killing of Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen.
Posting sterling revelations by Professor Charles Adisa of the Chinua Achebe Center for Leadership and Development, about the continued killing, kidnapping and maiming of their host communities by the herders, Okupe lamented that over 1000 people had been murdered across the country.
He blamed the Federal Government for its lukewarm attitude in handling the situation and protecting lives of innocent Nigerians.
The article reads, “For a long time, the Nigerian state has been under siege by Fulani herdsmen terrorists operating under a predictable pattern of reconnaissance, attack and withdrawal, leading to many deaths and social dislocations. Since January 2016, there has been documented deaths of approximately 1000 Nigerians from across the middle belt, the South-south, and Southeastern parts of the country from these coordinated Fulani herdsmen attacks. The Fulani herdsmen are credited with destabilizing the city of Jos, a once tourist destination.
“The failure to protect the citizens is the liability of the Federal Government of Nigeria and its armed forces. Most Nigerians and international bodies do not understand the Fulani herdsmen problem and we at CACLD did not initially. We therefore dispatched a fact finding team to the Southeastern part of the country to unravel the intricacies and complexities of the Fulani terrorist group; a group rated as the fourth most dangerous by respected international conflict organizations (According to the Global Terrorism Index 2015 report).
“Our fact finding team visited interviewed neighbors from the local communities living within and around the Hausa communities. Both the Northerners and the local community were very open and volunteered valuable information to our team. There seems to be a willingness and eagerness for the violence to end. Below are our findings:
“The Fulani Herdsmen terrorists do not own cattle: This is another revelation that may come as a surprise to many. Fulani herdsmen killers’ major job description is just to kill. They do not own any cattle. Most of them are employed by the cattle owners as “security men” whose job is strictly to protect the cattle. They do not however follow the cattle around, but move in separate vehicles along a defined route within the states where cattle are being reared.
“The cattle are owned by more prominent Fulani leaders in the country. Most Nigerian Fulanis are no longer migratory herdsmen, but are either Emirs, Sultans, heads of parastatals, oil barons, Imams, Governors, Federal Reps, and Senators. However, they still maintain their cultural ownership of cattle.
“These wealthy Nigerians increase their wealth astronomically through cattle rearing by using their not-well-off brothers from outside Nigeria to rear these cattle. Instead of investing in ranches and buying of grasses from the South, they chose the cheaper alternative of having their kinsmen, imported from outside the country, take these cattle from the north to south seasonally; using the entire Nigerian space as their ‘grass kingdom’. These cattle, in turn, destroy farms in their path, rendering farmers economically bankrupt to further enrich the wealthy Fulani “remote herders.

“For clarity sake, let us present the breakdown of Fulani people in Nigeria as we deduced from our investigation."
"There are about 5 million Fulani people in Nigeria making them one of the smallest ethnic groups in the country.
“Out of the 5 million Fulani people, only about 3 million of them are Nigerians. The remaining 2 million come from outside the country and are first generation immigrants.
“About 60 percent of the Fulanis in Nigeria are governors, Imams, Emirs, Sultan, House of Rep members, Importers, Exporters, Ministers, Oil well owners, lecturers, Vice Chancellors, Ministers, and Senators etc. In a nutshell, the Fulani control all sectors of the northern economy. These rich Fulani’s own all the cattle being reared in Nigeria.
“The remaining 40 percent of Fulanis come from outside the country. These are the poor and peasant Fulanis. These immigrant Fulani’s are mostly in charge of the cattle owned by the Bourgeois Fulani. Because the Fulanis have the highest income per capita in the Nigerian state (Fulani’s who are Nigerians), they constantly need to import their poor brothers and sisters from outside the country to increase their population and to help with menial jobs. The Fulanis always either marry into rich families or they would marry only Fulani to maintain their pure race.
“Lastly, there is a group of Fulani herdsmen who rear the cattle from the north to the south. These are at the bottom of the Fulani Herdsmen ladder. Some of them do not even know how to speak English and are so poor that they are paid just a little amount of money for their job. These herdsmen do not carry guns. They only carry arrows and machetes to help them navigate the bushes on their way down to the South.
“We learned from the surrounding communities and from some of the Hausa elders about what constitutes a Fulani herdsmen attack. According to information we received, when there is a disagreement between host communities, or between herdsmen and farmers, the Fulani herdsmen who accompany the cattle will locate the nearest Fulani settlement. When they arrive, they will narrate their story.
“The Fulani (Nigerian middlemen) cattle managers will notify their top Fulani Herdsmen which in this case, include governors (like El Rufai) and other top Fulani Bourgeois who own the cattle. A decision will be made about whether there should be an attack or not on the said village or host community. If an attack is sanctioned, then modalities will be mapped out and a date will be chosen for the attack. Most times, Fulani herdsmen in the military and police are notified and everyone sends a representative. Neighboring settlements sends out representatives and arms cache are opened and arms are distributed to the participants. The major participants are the 20 to 40 Fulani herdsmen whose job is to kill.
“During an attack, every Fulani person in the area knows there will be an attack and all will contribute to make sure it goes on successfully. Fulanis in the higher levels of the military will ensure all commands under them stand down, and the top Fulani police officers will do the same. The road is then clear for the Fulani herdsmen to carry their attacks.
“Next time when we talk about a herdsmen attack, we must understand that the attack was not carried out by the herdsmen you see escorting cattle on the roads and bushes. These attacks are well coordinated and sometimes involves the approval of senators and influential men in Abuja. Even our president Mohammed Buhari has a herd of cattle and hence is a Fulani herdsman, corroborating the information we received from respondents on ground. Fulani herdsmen attacks involves all Fulani ethnic members in Nigeria. Most times, these attacks happen only because “respectable men” sanction them.”

Governor Ortom Should Decamp To PDP If He Wants Killings To Stop In Benue - FFK

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has disclosed how Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State can end the menace of Fulani herdsmen in his state.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain said Ortom must leave the All Progressives Congress, APC, for him to effectively tackle the Fulani herdsmen in his state.

In a tweet via his social media handle, the former Minister said the governor must also stop worshiping President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the PDP Chieftain, the ruling “APC belongs to the Miyetti Allah, to the Fulani militants and their cows.”

He wrote: “If Gov. Ortom of Benue state is really ready to take on the Fulani herdsmen in his state as he claims then the first thing that he needs to do is to leave the APC and stop worshipping Buhari. APC belongs to Miyetti Allah, to the Fulani militants and to their cows.”

Recall that Ortom had confirmed that at least 20 people were killed after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked communities in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state between Monday and Tuesday, last week.

Ortom disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Makurdi after the State security meeting.

On Wednesday, aggrieved youths in their hundreds embarked on a peaceful protest calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to “act now or resign.”

Benue killings: Atiku issues 7 days ultimatum to Unongo to retract statement against him or face N200bn Libel Suit

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued 7 days ultimatum to NEF leader Unongo to retract statement against him or- He said that Unongo’s failure to do the retraction within the stipulated time would lead to a libel suit- Unongo had claimed that he had interacted with Atiku and knew that the former vice-president was the most powerful person financing Miyetti Allah. Former vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday, January 8, threatened to sue a leader of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Paul Unongo, for accusing him of being a financier of the Miyetti Allah, an association of cattle breeders. The Punch reports that Atiku issued this threat in a letter by his lawyer, Mahmud Magaji (SAN), asking Unongo to retract “the blatant and malicious falsehood” within seven days.

Betajist gathered that he also asked Unongo to publish the retraction in all national newspapers. Atiku asked Unongo to, within 30 days of receiving the letter, pay him (Atiku) N200bn as damages. The former Vice President, in his letter, referred to the publication on page 3 of Saturday Punch of January 6, 2018 (Vol. 7413), in which Unongo’s claims were reported. Unongo had claimed that he had interacted with Atiku and knew that the former vice-president was the most powerful person financing Miyetti Allah. Atiku had since denied the claim. The letter read in part:“You made this assertion even when you knew that in fact and in truth you never had any such discussion with our client. “The above allegations aside from being frivolous, callous, baseless and unwarranted are utter falsehood and unjustified. “Your mischief has gravely defamed our client and painted him in very bad light as a sponsor and instigator of violence across the country, a character you know he does not possess. “Having given much of his life to the service of his country in various capacities, rising to the enviable position of Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1999-2007, our client has continued to function as an elder statesman and stakeholder in the nation’s polity whose core interests lie in the general welfare and unity of the Nigerian populace devoid of ethnic/religious divides. “As you very well know those unwarranted allegations calling our client the financier of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, an organisation you made out as the perpetrators of the heinous and wanton destruction of lives and property in Benue State in the recent past, is nothing but complete falsehood. Nothing can, indeed, be farther from the truth. “Take notice that our client takes strong exception to these allegations and considers same as an act of character assassination. “Hence our instruction to:“Demand of you and we so demand that you retract your mischievous allegations and tender an unconditional apology to our client, such apology should be published in all the national dailies, not later than seven (7) days from the receipt of this letter, inclusive of the date of receipt; and “Pay to our client by way of damages the sum of N200bn not later than 30 days from the receipt of this letter, inclusive of the date of receipt.
“Take further notice that should fail, refuse and or neglect to abide by our simple demands, we would have no choice than to subject you to the rigours of litigation and this we shall do without any further reference to you.”

Armed Robber Hires Security Guards To Protect His Community Against Other Robber

Operatives of the Lagos state police command have arrested the chairman of Celenca Community landlords association, located along Badagry expressway, Lagos State, for stealing and snatching cars.
    .
According to NewTelegraph, the suspect, Daniel Egwe, 42, told police officers that he went into crime after some top Nigeria Customs officers defrauded him of over N4million.
He said: “Yes, I went into crime after some Customs officers swindled me of N4m. I borrowed most of the money they stole and I needed to repay my creditors. I also joined crime because I had been dreaming and yearning to become chairman of the landlord association in our community.

I needed money for that. You have to lobby other landlords to vote for you.
This included doling out money. I spent money on those landlords that voted for me.” When operatives stormed the community to arrest Egwe, members of the community wouldn’t allow them to take him away.

They told the operatives that Egwe was too pious and honest to be a robber. They said it could be a case of mistaken identity. Police alleged that he had used proceeds from crime to build houses in the community.

Egwe was arrested along with Bademosi Adebayo and Nnamdi Ariwodo. A police source said: “According to the community members, the suspect had contributed immensely to reduction of crime in the community.

He single-handedly hired security guards to keep watch in the community. He hired guards to keep out armed robbers from the community, while he is also an armed robber.”

Nnamdi Kanu’s Family Reacts To ‘Recovery Of Weapons’ In IPOB Leader’s Home

NEWS Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu’s family reacts to ‘recovery of weapons’ in IPOB leader’s homePublished on October 14, 2017 By Wale Odunsi   The family of leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has dismissed claims by Abia Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ogbizi that police recovered lethal weapons when, in a joint exercise with the Army, raided their compound at Afara Ukwu on October 8.  Kanu’s family spokesman, Emmanuel Kanu, told newsmen by telephone that if any weapon found within the premises must have been planted by security operatives.  The family accused Ogbizi of fabricating the story to justify the ”illegal raid” and also to appear as if he was working.  His words: “This new CP was the same man who came to our house two days after the September 14 invasion with two Hilux vans and his Prado SUV and pulled down the car porch and destroyed the vehicles parked outside.  “This same CP hurriedly after the invasion on the October 8, issued a press release telling the whole world that they discovered bombs in my house. The army on the other hand, denied that there was no invasion and that they never went to my house, what a contradiction.  “A house that there has not been any person inside except our guard who we asked to look after the house, all of a sudden they invaded the house and came back to say they found a den gun, double barrel gun and petrol bomb. Who manufactured them? Who kept them there? That is the question to ask.”  “The policemen came to our house and ransacked the entire compound including my mum and my father’s rooms, removing my mum’s boxes, our TV and generator sets, bags of rice and many personal belongings without knowing that we had a CCTV recording their activities in the house.  “But when they got clue about the CCTV and in order to concoct whatever that they would present to the public to label our family bad, they came back and removed the CCTV from where they were hung.  “I am telling the international community to prevail on this people. What the Police and other security agencies are doing in my house, my community, in my state and the entire Biafran Land is evil. It is clear that out of desperation, they are trying to cover their tracks and they have failed.  “Nobody can tag IPOB a terrorist organisation. We don’t carry arms and arms never solved any dispute. They should engage IPOB leadership genuinely. We are not violent. We don’t give life and we can’t take one. They have rubbished the name of the country called Nigeria, that’s why we are called Biafrans.  “They invaded the house and took away the CCTV now they said that they discovered petrol bomb and the rest of it, when we had only one person in the house. How possible is that? Who planted them?”  Kanu further stated, “If Ogbizi was serving in his Cross River State, he wouldn’t have raided the palace of the Obong of Calabar under any guise the way he raids my father’s palace and boasted he would raid it again, this can only happen in Igbo land.  “And let me tell you something, the reason they removed the former CP (Adeleye Oyebade) was that he knew that IPOB has been non-violent in their activities and he stood on the side of truth, he refused to be compromised that was why they removed him and brought this one from Cross River State who is on a mission he will never accomplish.”

State Government Have Spent N50bn Taking Care Of Benue Flood Victims – Gov Ortom

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has claimed that the state government has spent no fewer than N50bn taking care of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state.

Ortom was reacting to rumour about diversion of relief materials and misappropriation of funds by some officials of his government meant for flood victims.

When asked about the issue of misappropriation of fund and how much has been spent from the state’s pocket, Ortom said, "I think around 50 billion naira currently.

"Like I said, there has been responses from the federal government, state government and other individuals and organisations. All that we needed was just some assistance.

“We are making a comprehensive analysis, at the end we will make a decision depending on the availability of funds.

"Since we cannot pay all the salaries, we agreed that we will combine two months and pay for one month, so people can have allowance to do other things. Discussions are still going on and I’m also discussing with other financial institutions to see if we can find a way around it.

“But I still believe that if this process that we have adopted is the desired one, we still have to go step by step so we cannot inflict pain on the workers. One thing I know is that with this inflation, whatever people get is not enough. The good thing is that we are discussing and as we are discussing, we will find a way out of it,” he told Sun.
