Britain Has Nothing To Do With Agitations For Secession – High Commissioner

The British envoy in very clear terms dissociated the British authorities from any form of agitation saying that Britain is in support of the unity of Nigeria and also supports the Nigerian government.
Mr Arkwright was speaking in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Friday when he visited the speaker of the state house of assembly.
He said Nigeria is important to Britain and that his country strongly believes in one Nigeria.
“We have nothing to do with any agitation aimed at the break-up of Nigeria. We strongly support the unity of Nigeria. We strongly support the Federal Government and that is the position the British government has held consistently,” he said.
“So, we have absolutely no interest in stirring up any agitation and anybody who claims that the British government is involved in any way in any of that is completely wrong.”

Restructuring Cannot Solve Nigeria's Problems, Convene A Sovereign Conference Now - MASSOB to FG

The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) has said that the call for referendum is needless.

MASSOB advised the Federal Government to convene a sovereign national conference in Nigeria.

The group said the conference would allow all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria to determine their future The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) has advised the Federal Government to convene a sovereign national conference in Nigeria.

The Ralph Uwazuruike faction of the group said a new conference would allow all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria to determine their future.

The national director of information for MASSOB Sunny Okoroafor while speaking in Aba during the announcement of the group's anniversary in September said a national conference will help solve the growing agitations by various ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Okoroafor also condemned the recent call for the restructuring of Nigeria by some of the South-East governors and leaders.

He said restructuring cannot solve Nigeria's challenges and the growing agitation for Biafra. “Restructuring is not the solution to the problem of agitation caused by injustice and marginalization in Nigeria.

Where will we start restructuring from? Restructuring is not the solution to the increasing agitations by several ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

Restructuring is akin to scratching the surface of the problems.

Igbo want Biafra; Yoruba want Oduduwa Republic, Boko Haram want Islamic republic and the Hausa/Fulani wants the status quo to be maintained because it is their favour and others want resource control.

The question is what are you restructuring for? “Every section of Nigeria had agreed that the federation isn’t workable;

Fulani herdsmen are killing and abusing our women with the federal government playing the ostrich, the north heads all the military and Para military agencies, oil producing communities live in abject poverty, grade A positions are only reserved for natives of certain parts of the country. Okoroafor said the Ndigbo has been relegated to second class citizens.

He said: "In the kind of situation prevailing in Nigeria, a sovereign national conference is the only solution.

The federal government should convene a sovereign national conference without further delay.” He also said the calls for a referendum is pointless. He said a referendum had already taken place in the old Eastern region where the people of Biafra were given the opportunity to had expressed their desire for an independent state of Biafra.

BETAJIST.com had reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu.

The trial which was expected to hold before Justice Binta Nyako on Tuesday, July 11, was adjourned to October 17, Kanu's Lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor also said the matter was adjourned at the instance of the court.

Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd. trading as Etisalat Nigeria on Tuesday informed its customers that the change of brand name will not affect its operations.

The Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, EMTS, Mr Ibrahim Dikko, in a statement said that EMTS was aware of recent news reports regarding Etisalat Group’s withdrawal of the right to the continued use of the Etisalat brand in Nigeria by EMTS.

He said that EMTS had a valid and subsisting agreement with the Etisalat Group.

According to him, the agreement entitles EMTS to use the Etisalat brand notwithstanding the recent changes within the company.

“Indeed, discussions are ongoing between EMTS and Etisalat Group pertaining to the continued use of the brand.

“EMTS will issue a formal statement once discussions are concluded.

“The final outcome on the use of the brand in no way affects the operations of the business as our full range of services remain available to our customers,’’ he said.

Dikko said that EMTS launched in Nigeria in 2008 with “0809ja’’ to affirm the “Nigerianness’’ of its origin and sphere of influence.

He said that in nine years of operation, the company remained a prime driver and avid supporter of the Nigerian spirit of excellence.

According to him, the telecommunications company will continue to stay true to its “Naijacentric identity’’.

“This notion is strongly reflected in our core messages and depicted in major projects and initiatives, which we have been known to support.

“All these initiatives have their foundation embedded in supporting key aspects of the Nigerian fabric: building Nigerian businesses and empowering Nigerians with a focus on the youth.

“Nigeria remains the soul of EMTS’ business and we have made the brand alluring to our teeming subscribers, who see a piece of the spirit and character of Nigeria in everything we do.

“EMTS is here to stay and we wish to assure our esteemed customers that our core values of youthfulness, customer-centricity, and innovation will remain the pillars on which we operate.

“We thank our esteemed customers for their abiding faith in us,’’ Dikko said.

Since the month of March, Etisalat Group has been having the issues with the consortium of 13 banks over the payment $1.2bn loan.

The group had on Monday given Etisalat Nigeria three weeks ultimatum to stop the usage of its brand name.

INEC Pastes Notice Of Melaye’s Recall Process

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday pasted the notice of the verification of the recall process of Senator Dino Melaye, who is from Kogi West Senatorial District, at its state office in Lokoja.

The commission chose to go ahead with the process based on precedents and judicial pronouncements.

The National Commissioner of INEC in charge of North-Central, Mallam Mohammed Haruna, said the Court of Appeal had since 2001 decided that a court cannot stop the recall of a lawmaker.

The commission pasted the notice at the state office of INEC in Lokoja as early as 10am.

The INEC “Notice of Verification”, states: “In accordance with Section 69 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(As amended), notice is hereby given that the verification for the recall of the member representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State shall hold as follows:

“Date: 19th August, 2017; Time: 8am-2pm; Location: All polling units in Kogi West Senatorial District.”

A top source in INEC said: “We have commenced the recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye because the matter is quite clear. Somebody brought a petition, which we served on Melaye and thereafter signatures were collected.

“The procedure is quite clear and we are just following it. By the time the date comes for verification, we will go there. If the number of voters seeking Melaye’s recall is less than the statutory requirement, the matter ends there.

“But if the number is in line with the requirement, there will be a referendum.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “There is no any order of a court restraining INEC from going ahead with the recall. And since we do not have legal inhibitions preventing us from treating the petition against the senator, we owe it a duty to proceed with the recall.

“If you look at the provision of Section 87(10) of the Electoral Act, 2010(As amended), which is applicable in this instance, INEC cannot be stopped from doing its work of conducting election in any manner whatsoever.

“The provision of Section 110 of the 1999 Constitution is actually explicit on the recall. As an institution, INEC has nothing against Melaye or any lawmaker. We are expected to follow the constitution and the Electoral Act. Implementing a recall process is not a suicide mission for any lawmaker. If a lawmaker has the backing of his or her constituents, the recall process will be dead on arrival.”

Haruna said: “We have a Court of Appeal judgement on why court cannot stop the process. This judgment is dated back to 2001.

“Since there is a subsisting Court of Appeal judgment, we will abide by it.”

Melaye’s recall will run from July 10 to August 19.

The notice, dated July 3rd, 2017, reads in part: “In exercise of the powers conferred on the Independent National Electoral Commission(“the Commission”) by Sections 69 and 110 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999(as amended); Section 116 of the Electoral Act 2010(as amended) and of all the powers enabling it in that behalf, the Commission hereby issues this timetable schedule of activities for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Kogi State.”

The details of the timetable are as follows:
Notice of Verification (10th July, 2017). To be posted at the constituency (INEC LGA office, Lokoja).
Last day for submission of application by interested observers (31st July 2017). INEC headquarters.

By a letter addressed and submitted to the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) indicating the Polling Unit verification agents arranged by LGAs as well as collation agents and where they will serve.
Stakeholders meeting (15th August, 2017). INEC State Office.
Conduct of Verification (19th August, 2017). To be held in the Polling Units in the constituency.

“The commission shall issue the timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of referendum subject to the outcome of the verification exercise.”

DINO MELAYE’S RECALL BEGINS TODAY

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin
the recall of Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) today.
However the supporters of the embattled senator have been
pleading with some Christian clerics to intervene in the matter.
A top INEC official disclosed that “There is no restraining order
from any court. We will go ahead with the first leg. But if along
the line, INEC is stopped from going ahead with the exercise, we
will stop it.
“Pasting the verification notice is just the first leg of the process,
which cannot hurt Melaye in any way.
“Even the process does not amount to removing the senator. By
virtue of Section 110, a lawmaker is only opportune to gauge the
mood of his or her constituents on his or her performance.
“If a lawmaker is doing well, he or she should feel free to face
the electorate. The process is not a setback at all for any
lawmaker.”
When ask a question, the source added “A team to be
coordinated by the National Commissioner for Northcentral will
oversee the process. Definitely, the Operation Department will be
involved.
“INEC will, however, seek legal opinion immediately it is served
the ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
“We have subsisting court judgments, including those of the
Court of Appeal, indicating that no court can stop a recall, which
is like an election.”

yesterday.

16 SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE HIV WITHOUT KNOWING

A month or two after HIV has entered their body, 40-90% of the people experience symptoms that resemble flu symptoms, and this is known as acute Retro-Viral Syndrome (ARS).

But, in some cases the HIV symptoms don’t appear for years, even decades after the body has been infected.
These are some of the signs that may indicate you are HIV-positive.
16 Signs You May Have HIV
1.FEVER
One of the first signs of ARS might be a mild fever, up to about 102 degrees F.
In case you experience the fever, you may also often experience other generally mellow side-effects, such as sore throat, swelling of the lymph organs, weakness etc.
2.FATIGUE
One of the inflammatory responses of your overwhelmed immune system is the feeling of tiredness and lethargy. Fatigue can be an early sign of HIV, but a later one as well.
3.THROBBING MUSCLES , JOINT TORMENT , SWOLLEN LYMPH HUBS
Lymph hubs are part of the body’s insusceptible framework and are usually kindled in case of a disease. The most part of them is placed in the armpit, the neck and the crotch.
ARS is often confused for the seasonal cold virus, mononucleosis or another viral infectivity, even hepatitis or syphilis.
4.SORE THROAT AND HEADACHE
According to Dr. Horberg, sore throat and headache are frequently recognized as ARS only in context.
One should be aware that the body still hasn’t produced antibodies to HIV, so an antibody test may not pick it up (the antibodies of HIV can be seen in a blood test from a few weeks to few months). One should find some other test options, like the one that detects viral RNA, usually within 9 days of the infections.
5.SKIN RASH
Skin rashes can be both early and late HIV/AIDS signs.
6.NAUSEA , VOMITING , DIARRHEA
Around 30% to 60% of the people in the early stages of HIV deal with short-term nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, Dr.Malvestutto says.
7.WEIGHT REDUCTION
Called “guides squandering”, weight reduction is a sign of more propelled illness and can vary between a minor weight reduction to extreme looseness of the bowels.
8.DRY COUGH
Ron first noticed that something was wrong with him because of the dry cough. But, he thought it was some kind of allergy. According to Dr.Malvestutto, this cough is typical for patients of HIV who are very ill and could be going on for weeks, with you not seeing the way in which it would be resolved.
9.PNEUMONIA
Weight reduction and the hack might be a forecast of a genuine disease caused by a germ that wouldn’t cause any troubles if the invulnerable framework was working properly. Other opening diseases include toxoplasmosis, a parasitic contamination that affects the mind; a kind of herpes infection known as cytomegalovirus and yeast contaminations, like thrush for example.
10.NIGHT SWEATS
Around 50% of people get night sweats in the early stages of HIV infection, Dr. Malvestutto explains. In the later stages, they become even more common and aren’t related to exercise or the room temperature.
11.NAIL CHANGES
Another sign of HIV contamination are nail changes, such as clubbing (bending and thickening of the nails), staining (dark lines or chestnut lines, placed vertically or on a level plane).
This is mostly the case because of some infectious disease, like Candida for example. According to Dr.Malvestutto, patients with worn out insusceptible frameworks are feebler to contagious contaminations.
12.YEAST INTENTION
A fungal infection common in the later stages is thrush, mouth infection that is a result of Candida, which is a kind of yeast.
According to Dr.Malvestutto, it is one of the commonest funguses that cause yeast infection in women. Most frequently, they appear in the mouth, or the esophagus, and cause difficulties when swallowing.
13.PERPLEXITY OR TROUBLE CONCENTRATING
Another sign of HIV-related dementia can be subjective issues, which appear mostly in the later stages of the disease. Perplexity and trouble concentrating aside, the AIDS-related dementia may also include problems with the memory and the behavior, like bitterness or irritability.
14.COLD SORES OR GENITAL HERPES
Oral herpes (cold sores) and genital herpes are an indication of both ARS and HIV in the late stages. Having herpes can also represent a risk factor for contracting HIV, since genital herpes may cause ulcer and thus make it easier for the HIV to enter the body during sex. Also, people who have HIV usually have more severe herpes outbreaks more frequently because their immune system is weaker.
15.SHIVERING AND SHORT COMING
Deadness and shivering in the feet and hands are also a sigh of HIV, in its later stages. The symptom is called fringe neuropathy, and it can also happen to people with uncontrolled diabetes.
Dr.Malvestutto explains that at this point the nerves are quite harmed. This can be treated with the help of over-the-counter distress relievers and anti-seizure medications, like Neurontin (gabapentin) is.
16MENSTRUAL IRREGULARITIES
HIV disease in its late stages increases the risk of menstrual irregularities, like fewer and lighter periods.
There’s a link between the HIV infection and the earlier menopause (47 to 48 years for infected women and 49 to 51 years for uninfected women).

5 OCCUPATIONS THAT MAKE MOST MARRIED WOMEN CHEAT

Wives cheating on their partners might not necessarily be dependent on profession or occupation but there are some professions that make women prone to cheating on their husbands/partners. Below are some of these occupations:

1) POLITICS: Many female politicians, especially, in this part of the world, are nothing short of glorified prostitutes. These set of people, desparate just like their male counterparts, will not mind sleeping with all the political figures in their state just to clinch the position of a local government chairperson or even ward councillor!
2) ACTING: There is an African proverb that says 'He who brings ants-ridden woods into his house should not complain when lizards pay him visit'. With the kind of stories we hear about the movie industry these days, any man who marries an actress should not complain when it starts. One wonders how most of these actresses leave their matrimonial home within the shortest possible time after marriage. From movie set to hotel room...na clap deh dey take enter dance. How many sane and responsible man would tolerate his wife kissing random men passionately on screen, still knowing fully well what marriage is suppose to be?
3) MODELING: Just like actresses, models have high possibilty to cheat in marriage. Her body is perfectly in shape; many men want her irrespective of her marital status. They want to have a taste of the Oripopo! What most of our models do behind closed doors just to get modeling contracts is shameful; marriage doesn't stop them from having extra-marital fun! With the things young ladies now do to win beauty pageants, I wouldn't wish an enemy of mine to marry a model as far as he understands what marriage entails.
4) BAR/RESTAURANT BUSINESS: If your wife runs this type of business, she probably see different men of diverse characters on daily basis who are ready to lavish their monthly income regularly on sex and alcohol. If you as the man has nothing tangible doing, it makes the case worse! Seriously speaking, without being biased, it is very difficult if not impossible to see a decent lady operating a bar/restaurant business in Nigerian cities! I tell you today, these set of people cheat as if tomorrow would never come!!!
5) BANK MARKETING: There is an African proverb that says 'Because a woman conceived for you doesn't mean she can't kill you'. Female bank marketers are mostly prone to cheating on their partners since they meet large business owners often due to the nature of the job. Nowadays, the number of women who place a good amount of value on marriage is steadily declining. With this, most female bank marketers will easily go to bed with rich clients just to keep their job and make more income. It's shameful but true.
In as much as some folks claim the average African man is naturally positioned to enjoy different women even when married, I don't see cheating in marriage or committed relationships as something proper for both sexes. I personally has cultivated the habit of dating one lady at a time. With this, I won't hesitate to throw a cheating partner out of my life through the window!
