Restructuring Cannot Solve Nigeria's Problems, Convene A Sovereign Conference Now - MASSOB to FG

The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) has said that the call for referendum is needless.

MASSOB advised the Federal Government to convene a sovereign national conference in Nigeria.

The group said the conference would allow all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria to determine their future The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) has advised the Federal Government to convene a sovereign national conference in Nigeria.

The Ralph Uwazuruike faction of the group said a new conference would allow all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria to determine their future.

The national director of information for MASSOB Sunny Okoroafor while speaking in Aba during the announcement of the group's anniversary in September said a national conference will help solve the growing agitations by various ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Okoroafor also condemned the recent call for the restructuring of Nigeria by some of the South-East governors and leaders.

He said restructuring cannot solve Nigeria's challenges and the growing agitation for Biafra. “Restructuring is not the solution to the problem of agitation caused by injustice and marginalization in Nigeria.

Where will we start restructuring from? Restructuring is not the solution to the increasing agitations by several ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

Restructuring is akin to scratching the surface of the problems.

Igbo want Biafra; Yoruba want Oduduwa Republic, Boko Haram want Islamic republic and the Hausa/Fulani wants the status quo to be maintained because it is their favour and others want resource control.

The question is what are you restructuring for? “Every section of Nigeria had agreed that the federation isn’t workable;

Fulani herdsmen are killing and abusing our women with the federal government playing the ostrich, the north heads all the military and Para military agencies, oil producing communities live in abject poverty, grade A positions are only reserved for natives of certain parts of the country. Okoroafor said the Ndigbo has been relegated to second class citizens.

He said: "In the kind of situation prevailing in Nigeria, a sovereign national conference is the only solution.

The federal government should convene a sovereign national conference without further delay.” He also said the calls for a referendum is pointless. He said a referendum had already taken place in the old Eastern region where the people of Biafra were given the opportunity to had expressed their desire for an independent state of Biafra.

BETAJIST.com had reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu.

The trial which was expected to hold before Justice Binta Nyako on Tuesday, July 11, was adjourned to October 17, Kanu's Lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor also said the matter was adjourned at the instance of the court.
