INEC Removes 190 Non-nigerians From Voter Register

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has ordered the removal of the names of 190 non-Nigerians from the country’s Voter Register as part of measures to clean up the register.

The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi yesterday in Abuja.

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) recently retrieved several Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and National Identity cards from foreigners who were alleged to have registered as voters.

Osaze-Uzzi reiterated INEC commitment in ensuring that the Voter Register was free from unqualified registrations.

God permits single ladies to Date Married Men – Popular Singer, Mzbel

One of the most popular singers in Ghana, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah better known as Mzbel, has declared that God is not against ladies dating married men.
Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, who has earlier said she does not believe in Jesus Christ and that Christianity is idol worship, made the declaration in an interview with Radio Univers.
The singer said there is nothing wrong with dating a married man because her religion allows it.
The musician also denied claims that she was in an amorous relationship with the former president, John Dramani Mahama.
Nana Akua mentioned that she refers to the ex-president as ‘daddy’ and that tells they are not dating.
She added that a lady is also allowed to be with a married man on a condition that the woman is not a virgin.
She said, “My religion allows a man to marry as many as he wants so the ladies in Judaism accept the act. So far as he takes good care of you and does not give you problem, then you are good to be with him. Dating or marrying married man is not a big deal.
“The lady can also marry a married man but it has to be just one person in your life unlike a man who is allowed to marry even more than twenty women and be descent with them. If I am dating a married man I won’t be ashamed of it.
“I am not dating a married man but if I am, I won’t be shamed of it because God permits it. In the old testament, Solomon and others had plenty concubines. The only thing a married man cannot do is to take a another man’s wife.”

Oyegun is a virus in APC – Obiano

Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has declared that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Odigie-Oyegun, lacks moral authority to speak on good governance in Nigeria.
Obiano was reacting to a statement attributed to the APC national chairman where he called on the incumbent Anambra state governor to “write his handing over notes and start preparing to vacate office.”
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, Oliver Okpala, the governor said the APC national chairman’s record as first civilian governor of Edo state was unenviable and as such he lacked the moral authority to sermonize on good governance.
He said: ‘’this is a former Governor who has no traceable achievement to his name as far as his tenure in Edo state is concerned. Apart from high level of thuggery, brigandage and insecurity, no one can recall any meaningful development recorded during Oyegun’s government in Edo state.
“It was also during his era that a very low level of governance was introduced to that state, a clear departure from the pragmatic and result oriented leadership style of the likes of Professor Ambrose Ali and Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, both of blessed memory.
“It was during Oyegun’s tenure that the song of ‘no money’ for projects became the regular cry in governance circle in Edo state. He could not think outside the box.
“Many Nigerians still remember that Oyegun also won the unenviable record of the Governor during whose tenure Edo state recorded the lowest score in WAEC. The records are there for all to see! So, what is a failed governor talking about when it comes to good governance?
“Indeed Oyegun has no moral right to speak on issue of good governance in Anambra state or any part of the country. If what we practice is a democracy then the will and wish of the people should be respected.
‘’Many Nigerians also know how he emerged as National Chairman of the APC. It was a clear case of political imposition which has left the party prostrate till date. As we speak, the APC under his watch cannot hold meetings of its crucial organs. No wonder its house is in disarray.
“What this clearly shows is that Oyegun is a virus in APC, as he has foisted his regime of lack of internal democracy in the party. No wonder the party is seriously bleeding today, suffering from constant defections, calamitous directionless, and crass incompetence. The implication is that the party is heading for doom if Oyegun is not quickly removed. No wonder, a prime founder and leader of APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his followers have since called for his removal“It is this weak leadership style that he wants to import into Anambra state? After all what is his business with Anambra when he has not been able to put his own house in order.
“Oyegun’s declaration that his rudderless party would take over Anambra is also an unfortunate exposure of that undemocratic spirit and cancer that has befallen the APC. If what we practice is true democracy, where democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people Oyegun could not have made such an unguarded utterance.
“His declaration that ‘APC must take over Anambra’ is a signal that they are bent on forcefully overturning the will of the people who are the true custodian of democracy.
“Granted, as Oyegun said, Anambra is crucial to their plot of making inroads into the south east, but must that be achieved through undemocratic means which often leads to bloodletting and mayhem?”

Mob Buries Robbery Suspect Alive In Ebonyi

Angry youths have reportedly buried alive a suspected armed robbers, Chukwudi Omaka, who along with his gang members allegedly robbed and killed a businessman.

The businessman, Idam Ogbonnia, was killed at Amaisri community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Police yesterday paraded three of those who reportedly killed Ogbonnia.

A witness, who is a resident of the community, Emmanuel Udu, said Omaka was also among robbers who robbed a cold room known as Etuelughu, belonging to Oko Udu Monday and another businessman identified simply as David, selling provisions.

He said: “The handsome boy (Omaka) was beaten thoroughly. Despite that, he refused to name his members. He was later buried alive by Amasiri youths.”

It was learnt that after burying Omaka, youths planted a tree on the grave in accordance with the customs of the community against anyone who committed a crime. The tradition has been as old as the community.

Those paraded included Gideon Omaka, Chukwudi Omaka’s brother and Idam Nwabueze Amadi. Parading the suspects before journalists at the state Police Command Headquarters, Abakaliki, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dr. Jude Madu, said the suspects lay an ambush for the team of Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and shot about three policemen.

He said the incident occurred last Friday and that some suspects, including Gideon Omaka, were arrested.

Madu said the state commissioner of police had declared war on criminals by deploying policemen to fish out criminals in the community.

Gideon (29), told journalists he was a former convict but did not know anything about the robbery for which his brother was killed. He said: “I was in my house when people attacked me and killed my brother, Chukwudi. I ran away.

They said my brother was one of those who robbed Idam Ogbonnia in my village.

My brother was the one who was buried alive when I ran away. The people later arrested me. “I just returned from prison that was why the people said I knew about the robbery that took place in my community for which my brother was accused, attacked and buried alive. I was released from prison March this year.”

Refineries Go Bad After Six Months of Operations

The House Representatives on Monday said it would invite Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu , to explain why the four refineries that were recently refurbished for operation are not currently producing six months after they became operational.

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream ), Mr. Joseph Akinlaja, stated this on Monday when members of the committee visited Matrix Energy Limited tank farm in Warri , Delta State, as part of inquiries into high prices and influx of adulterated kerosene leading to explosions in the country.  Akinlaja, who said the House was deeply concerned about high cost of kerosene in the market as well as incessant explosion due to adulteration, said they were visiting major industry players in the country to ascertain how the situation could be resolved.

He said the situation where Nigeria almost relies on imported petroleum products despite only recently upgrading the four refineries in the country was a national embarrassment.

He urged Nigerians to join hands to ensure that things in the country start working for the general good of the people.
